Man is a curious animal. The instinct that urges to sniff around the corner to spot in time a possible predator has pushed him far beyond the horizon, at great risk and costs, for the sheer pleasure of knowing what he would find there. Often in order to gather the necessary money (ships, crew and supplies never came cheap) he had to produce good commercial reasons for those crazy enterprises but in most cases they were mere excuses, the primary motor was curiosity – the same curiosity that a few decades ago brought us to the moon. Here you’ll find illustrated some of the fantastic tales he told when (if ever) he came back.
