Science provides fascinating answers (not to mention many myriads of new questions), but all too often they are theoretical answers. It takes more than a screwdriver and a bit of ingenuity to turn them into practical outcomes that can be applied to everyday life. Such a bridge between the scientist and the technician, between the invention and the gadget you buy at the shop around the corner, is called ‘technology’.
