It marked the greatest change in Europe’s life since the collapse of the Roman empire: after the long centuries of Middle Ages during which the Church of Rome had held virtually absolute power delegating it sparingly among its feudal lords, the ideas and the dreams that had been covertly working under the surface emerged suddenly into a blossom of sciences, arts and knowledge that slowly began to shrink the God’s emissaries’ power to the souls and the churches. The countless outcomes of such an unexpected and somewhat sudden liberation fill entire libraries, and some of the best among them also this category.
