In the mythology of the highly civilized ancient Greeks there were nine minor goddesses, the Muses, in charge of literature, science and the Arts. In the course of time one of them, Euterpe, became The Muse par excellence: her speciality was the art of turning sounds into feelings, that was named “music” after her and her sisters. This particular art evolved constantly but never aged, and we can still enjoy it as far back as history reaches. Here is where you find the (tiny) part of it that can be put on paper: sheet music, players and musical instruments that even modern technology left untouched.
